Description A consortium of academic libraries in Virginia, VIVA was established in 1993 with funds from the State Council of Higher Education of Virginia (SCHEV) to create a network of shared electronic resources for students and faculty and to facilitate cooperation among its members. VIVA Special Collections support and enhance the efforts of each academic library in the Commonwealth and the state library to make their unique Virginia resources available online. Originally named the Special Collections Committee, it was renamed the Virginia Heritage (Project) Task Force with the awarding of an NEH grant in 2000.
