Description This collection contains sound recordings from WAVE Radio during the period 1938-1959. Original audio is stored on more than 360 metal/vinyl-based 16" and 12" discs (there is one 10" disc, as well). The collection also includes scripts that would have been used in conjunction with the discs in radio broadcasts. Topics covered range from politics (local, state, and national, including local and state campaign ads); "man on the street" interviews about taxation and expressway construction; historical pieces, including an extensive set of recordings on the history of the Louisville and Nashville Railroad and a historical series created by Bill Hodapp; University of Kentucky basketball games; local and national news; and Falls City Brewing Company advertisements. Only a portion of the WAVE Radio disks have been digitized. Disk numbers 053, 180, 228, 248, 335, and 359 were outsourced to The Cutting Corporation and a second group of materials that are described topically were digitized in house from tapes.
